The Bendigo Sheep Show was on last weekend. Wool growers, knitters and strange men with coffee vans all congregate at the Bendigo Showgrounds for three days of sheep and wool.
Now it’s all over I can recouperate. I mean this literally because I managed to get very sick for the whole three days. Actually, Friday was not too bad but on Saturday and Sunday, things were pretty grim on the health front.
Now I’m home again I intend to spend a few days in bed watching Futurama dvds.
I met a lot of great people though, which took my mind off being sick and it was quite busy.
One of the great things about the Sheep Show is that everyone dresses up in knitwear. The most impressive knitted outfit of the weekend had to be this woman with her incredible Jenny Kee suit.
Isn’t it amazing? I have the pattern for this outfit but I don’t think I have the patience to sit down and knit it.
Although I took my camera with me, I didn’t really feel like taking photos. I regret this now but I did feel pretty bad so I’ll forgive myself.
I shared a stall with my friend Judith from Petit Couture. Judith creates patterns for dolls’ clothes and the beautiful little beds that you can see in the picture above. (Her designs fit both the American Girl Doll and the Australian Girl Doll). Judith was just as sick as I was over the weekend so you can imagine how much fun we were to be around after the show closed each day.
Both Judith and I found that our knitting patterns were more popular than our other products, although my stitch markers were quite popular. My most popular item was the pattern for the Holgate Slough Beanie (below).
In my next update I’ll show you some of the goodies I bought – no trip to the Sheep show is complete without a bit of yarn shopping.
For now, I’m going back to bed.
