There is a rather good read called “The Camomile Lawn” by Mary Wesley. Its frightfully English and is a very fast moving story of a group of middle-class cousins just as WWII begins. It’s worth reading if you ever get the chance.
Lush make a shampoo bar by the same name and I’ve always wanted to design a knit by that name – but I struggled to make anything that really did justice to it. Even though I didn’t have a design I had a yarn in mind.
I really love Zara yarn. It claims to be 8ply (DK) but it’s just a bit lighter so you can go down a few needle sizes and still get a lovely soft knit. I bought a dozen balls of Zara in a milk-coffee colour on sale a year ago. Because it reminded me of the colour of chamomile tea I really wanted to use it.
I’m pleased to say that I have finally designed “Camomile Lawn” and it is (drum roll please), a tea cosy.
It’s Tuesday night now (and I’m drinking the Oomoo Shiraz that appears in one of the pictures below), so I’m not really in any condition to upload a pattern.
I have about four patterns typeset and ready to add to this site and will be doing this on Saturday. So until then, here is a picture of the soon to be (freely) available “Chamomile Lawn”.
