It has been months since my last blog post and a lot has happened since then. A lot of knitting and a lot of other stuff.
The day job has been consuming all my time and energy for several months. Things have settled down a bit now we’ve reach the end of financial year, so I feel like there is enough space in my calendar and my head to put together a blog post.
Since my last post, I had a stall at the Hand Knit and Crochet Guild Victoria Yarn and Craft Market.

It was an incredibly busy day – right up until 3pm when the market closed. During the last hour I managed to visit the Dove Tree Lane stall and buy some buttons.
I treated myself to four cards of buttons – and I’ve already used one. I’ll show you the ones I’ve used next week. They’re on a cardigan I made for a gift and I don’t want to share pictures until after the gift has been received.
My favourites are these faux bamboo buttons. They’re made in France for an American company – B. Blumenthal and Co.

On the back of these buttons are little metal twists – like bobby pins. I assume this is so they can be removed for washing.

I also bought a a card of 30 Czech glass buttons. Based on the original packaging I think these are from the 1980s, but the style would suit a pattern from any decade.

Lastly, I bought a card of twelve large green buttons. They look like they are nylon – definitely not Bakelite – and are probably from the 60s, 70s or 80s. Like the blue buttons, I think they will work well with any style from the 40’s onward.

Along with buttons, I bought three vintage pattern booklets. They’re from the 60s which I don’t usually buy, but I couldn’t resist. I’ll share them in a future Retro Monday.
