Hello again,
No I’m not dead, in gaol or giving up knitting and blogging. I simply lost my mojo.
After the Bendigo Sheep Show in July I got really, really sick and it took months to feel better again. I swear my lungs must have come from the seconds bin because they seriously don’t seem to work as well as the ones everyone else seems to have.
Anyway, it wasn’t until late August that I recovered and then in September I moved house for the second time in a year. It was horrible but not as horrible as the move in March was. I was teaching sock knitting on the moving weekend too which made things pretty hectic. Still, the end result is we now live in a house we love and I’ve never seen the cat happier.
Actually, I’ve never known Cobey to take to moving house so well. He’s moved six times in his fuzzy little life and each time has been very traumatic for everyone involved.
This time Cobey had to move house AND take a visit to the vet on the way – so a very bad weekend for a cat. Or so I thought. Although he peed all over me in the car (which he always does on the way to the vet), he was pretty relaxed. We took him straight to the new house after his appointment to reduce the number of individual car trips.
At the new house we confined him to one room while we continued to move things from the old house. By that afternoon when we’d stopped work for the day, Cobey was exploring, sniffing, galloping and jumping up onto window sills. He bounced around like a kitten and basically hasn’t stopped since.
I’ve never seen him happier.
Last time I blogged (four months ago!) I mentioned that I had a little giveaway draw going on. The prize was for a copy of the excellent 1980s publication Traditional Knitting With Wool from the Australian Wool corporation plus a skein of Noro sock yarn.
Because I’d been neglecting this blog already at that point, I only had two responses. After recovering from feeling very unloved, I realised this was a good thing. I found another copy of this book about a week after posting, which means that both entrants will receive a copy of the book. One entrant will get the Noro yarn and the other will get a skein of Araucania Ranco Solid sock yarn in a dusty blue/lavender colour.
And here is Cobey modelling the prize pool. Doesn’t he look thrilled to be there?
So Meg and Doreen, thanks for posting comments. You’ll each get a copy of Traditional Knitting with Wool and a skein of sock yarn (the yarn will be randomly picked from the two mentioned above. I’ll email you each for your postal addresses.
That’s it for today’s post, but I really do plan on posting every week from here on in. I’ll be updating my online shop over the weekend as I’ve really been neglecting that too.
Here’s to a new year of knitting and blogging.
