UPDATE November 2020 – POM POMs are back in stock!
At last month’s yarn and craft market in Coburg, my husband Geoff was in charge of the pom-poms on my stall. By the end of the day he’d sold most of the pom-poms and acquired a bit of a fan club.
Most people bought them to put on top of a beanie, but a few said they were taking them home to their cats.
I’ve just got a new batch of the most popular colours and have added them to the online shop.
Unfortunately they can’t be posted as a large letter through Australia Post, so they need to go as a parcel – which means $8.50 postage. (The postage is free if they’re added to a skein though, so that might help the yarn budget a bit).
The pompoms are synthetic (I think polyester) and they have a stuffed core to keep the round shape. They also have an elastic loop to help attach it to a hat.
I sew a button to the inside of the hat and pull the elastic through the spot where you secure the final stitches before sewing in the ends. Then I loop the elastic around the button. The pom-pom can then be removed when you want to wash your hat.
