This is going to be the quickest Retro Monday ever. It’s 10.15pm and I need to get up at 5.30am – so I need to type fast and get to bed.
Today I’m just going to tease you with another front cover from Australian Home Journal. This one is from April 1957 which is mid-Autumn here in Australia. The dresses (for the adults at least) look a lot warmer than the usual crisp cotton frocks that feature on the covers of this magazine.
I love the pink dress and the checked skirt, but the blue blouse is a bit matronly looking for my liking. Don’t even start me on the pale green gloves – so very wrong!
This issue seems to have an alarming number of ads for patent medicines and weight loss pills. I think I’ll do a post just on the ads – they are fascinating and disturbing all at once.
But that’s for another day. Right now I need to get to bed and try to get some sleep! Good night all.
(Please note that I do not own the copyright to any patterns featured in Retro Monday. Unfortunately this means I can’t make or send out copies).
